
At the invitation of the General State Inspectorate of Senegal, a meeting of the working group responsible for determining the areas of cooperation between the services of the European Commission and the African General State Inspectorate Forum was held in Dakar from 14 to 28 July 2007.
It was during this visit that the FIGE delegation, led by Mrs. Nafy NGom KEITA, President of the FIGE Steering Committee and Auditor General of Senegal, was received by His Excellency, President Abdoulaye WADE.
This delegation included the Executive Secretary of FIGE, Mr. Abdou Karim GUEYE, Inspector General of State of Djibouti, the Deputy Executive Secretary of FIGE, Mr. Hassan Issa Sultan, Inspector of State of Djibouti, the Deputy Auditor General of Senegal, Mr. Ousmane N’Diaye, the Focal Point of FIGE within the General Inspectorate of Senegal, Mr. Mamadou DIOP.
The meeting was also attended by His Excellency, President Abdoulaye WADE, a delegation from OLAF including Mr. Claude LECOU, Senior Advisor, Mr. Johan VLOGAERT, Head of the “External Aid” Unit and the Ambassador of the European Union to Senegal, Mr. Gilles HERVIO.
The President of the Republic of Senegal welcomed the advent of FIGE and developed a whole vision on governance and transparency in Africa, which presupposes the involvement of African and non-African partners. He called for more efficiency in international aid and cooperation, advocating concrete solutions.
The Head of State of the Republic of Senegal accepted the advocacy role that was proposed to him, in favor of the objectives and ideals of FIGE and even recommended adding the objective of boosting the development of General State Inspections in African countries where this would not exist.
Finally, the FIGE delegation was received by his Excellency, the Prime Minister of Senegal, Mr. Aguibou SOUMARÉ.

The Auditor General of Senegal did not fail to thank the Prime Minister for his support, in his capacity as former Minister of Finance, for taking institutional measures in 2005, on the readjustment of the salaries of the State Inspectors General and the tripling of the budget of the intervention fund of the State Inspectorate General.
