The 9th regular meeting of the Steering Committee of the Forum of African State Audit Institutions and Similar Bodies (FIGE) was held in Djibouti on October 29, 2019.
Among the main items on the agenda were the review of the financial statements of FIGE and the FIGE Institute for the 2018 fiscal year, and preparations for the 8th FIGE General Assembly and the international symposium to be held in Brazzaville (Congo) in 2020.
The conference provided an opportunity to discuss ways and means of strengthening the FIGE Institute, particularly with regard to resolving the financial difficulties faced by the IFIGE. To this end, an ad hoc committee composed of the IGEs of Côte d’Ivoire and Angola, with the participation of member institutions of the Steering Committee, was established to explore options for resource mobilization. It should be noted that, in 2018, IFIGE trained more than 65 participants during two training sessions.
In addition, the progress of preparations for the 8th General Assembly and the international symposium scheduled to take place in Brazzaville, the capital of the Congo, was the subject of fruitful discussions.
Following the various presentations, the members of the Steering Committee reviewed and approved all items on the agenda, as well as the report on the proceedings of the 7th International Symposium held the previous day, on “the fight against corruption: prevention, investigation, and recovery of illicit assets.”
À l’issue des différentes présentations, les membres du comité directeur ont examiné et approuvé tous les points à l’ordre du jour, ainsi que le compte rendu des travaux du 7e symposium international qui s’était tenu la veille, sur le thème « La lutte contre la corruption : prévention, enquêtes et recouvrement des avoirs illicites ».
Following the various presentations, the members of the steering committee reviewed and approved all items on the agenda, as well as the report on the proceedings of the 7th International Symposium, which had been held the previous day on the theme “The Fight Against Corruption: Prevention, Investigations, and Recovery of Illicit Assets.”
The Chair of the Executive Committee concluded the discussion by noting that, with our next meeting in mind, it is important to make decisive progress on the projects ahead of our organization and to commit to redoubling our efforts to keep our association vibrant. With that, the Chair of the Steering Committee thanked all participants for the quality of the work and discussions and adjourned the meeting.
