
The 8th regular meeting of the Steering Committee of the Forum of African State Audit Institutions and Similar Bodies (FIGE) was held in Abidjan, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, on June 23, 2018, in the REQUISTON lounge of the TIAMA Hotel.
Among the main items on the agenda were the review of the FIGE and FIGE Institute’s activity and financial reports, as well as the auditor’s report for the 2017 fiscal year, the FIGE Strategic Plan for 2017–2022, follow-up on the recommendations and decisions of the Executive Committee, preparations for the 6th International Symposium and the 7th FIGE General Assembly, as well as a review of the international symposium organized the previous day in Abidjan by the General Inspectorate of Côte d’Ivoire.
At this meeting, the members of the FIGE Executive Committee approved the financial statements and activity reports of FIGE and IFIGE.
They also provided an opportunity to discuss ways and means of strengthening the sharing of experiences and information within our network regarding the follow-up on the recommendations from the missions and activities of our member institutions. Another key topic discussed at this meeting was the 2017–2022 strategic plan, revised for the 2019–2025 period, which is grounded in FIGE’s values of commitment, leadership, transparency, performance, cooperation, and innovation to provide our institution with a vision and strategic objectives aligned with its missions. This important document will support FIGE in its development, its outreach, and its commitments to promoting good governance.
The progress of preparations for the 6th International Symposium and the 7th Meeting of the FIGE Steering Committee, to be held in 2018 in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, was the subject of fruitful discussions.
Finally, the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Théophile AHOUA N’Doli made a closing speech to thank the participants for this work and express his gratitude to them for the work accomplished. He also congratulated the Steering Committee for the decision taken to limit the selection of new members to the institutions monitoring the administrative order and anti-fraud and anti-corruption structures. He also invited the State General Inspections to be monitoring and warning bodies of the authorities for all violations of the rules and principles of good governance.
For their part, the Executive Secretary and the other members of the Committee warmly thanked the Ivorian authorities and first and foremost, the Head of State of Côte d’Ivoire HE Alassane OUATTARA for his country’s unwavering support to FIGE. Thanks were also expressed to the Vice-President SEM Daniel Kablan DUNCAN and to the IGE of Côte d’Ivoire and to the Inspector General of State of the host country, Mr. Théophile AHOU N’Doli for the impeccable organization of these meetings.
