Following the decision taken by the FIGE Executive Committee at its statutory meeting in June 2022 in Djibouti to establish an ad hoc technical committee for the IGE of Mauritania, the Chair of the Executive Committee of the IGE of Congo, the Vice Chair of the IGE of Djibouti, the Executive Secretary of the IGE of Côte d’Ivoire, and experts to explore ways and means to revitalize the FIGE Institute (IFIGE), an extraordinary meeting of the FIGE Steering Committee was held on September 19, 2022, in Abidjan to present the findings of the ad hoc committee, which had met the previous day.

This meeting provided an opportunity to approve the measures proposed by the experts for the long-term operationalization of the FIGE Institute. It was entirely dedicated to IFIGE and made it possible to identify the issues and then propose alternative, sustainable solutions to address recurring problems related to its governance, operations, and financial situation.
