PRESENTATION OF FIGE<\/strong><\/p>

The Forum of State Inspectorates General of Africa and related institutions (FIGE) is an African organization created in February 2006 in Djibouti (Republic of Djibouti), following an international conference organized by the State Inspectorate General of Djibouti under the impetus of the State Inspectorates General of five African countries, Senegal, Chad, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Djibouti.<\/p>

Considering the importance of the role of public sector oversight institutions, responsible for ensuring transparency, protecting public assets and combating corruption, in the modernisation and development of States, the five founding members adopted the Djibouti Declaration of 16 February 2006, which drew on the lessons learned from developments in contemporary public management science and practice, while defining the principles and vision of the Forum of African State Inspectorates General and similar institutions, whose motto is “synergy for good governance”.<\/p>

The FIGE aims to be a key player in endogenous, evaluative and forward-looking thinking on public management by contributing to the development and implementation of professional and organisational standards for inspection, investigation, audit and evaluation practices, tailored to the priorities and challenges of good governance and public management focused on results and sustainable impact on state development. and evaluation, tailored to the priorities and challenges of good governance and public management focused on results and sustainable impact on the development of States.<\/p>

It ensures a clear understanding of the role of General State Inspectorates in a modern society. To this end, it raises awareness among actors at different levels of government of the importance of the role of General State Inspectorates and similar institutions within public administrations, thereby helping to provide citizens with the assurance of efficient management of public affairs. <\/p>

FIGE pursues objectives to standardise the activities and professions of its members, to align the interventions of member supervisory institutions with international best practices in supervision, training and research.<\/p>

Today, bolstered by its presence in 27 member institutions across 20 African countries and enriched by international cooperation, the Forum aims to create conditions conducive to synergy between its member institutions in order to help make FIGE one of the \u2018leaders in strategic thinking\u2019 in terms of strengthening public sector performance, improving good governance and combating corruption in Africa.<\/p>

Since 2012, the Organisation has had a training centre, known as the FIGE Institute, a centre of excellence dedicated to the professions of control, audit, investigation and inspection. The establishment of this institute is in line with the strategic objectives of FIGE, which has made capacity building for control institutions, or \u2018training-action\u2019, a major strategic area of intervention. <\/p>

The FIGE Institute is based at the Felix H. Boigny Polytechnic Institute in Yamoussoukro (C\u00f4te d’Ivoire).
