Forum des Inspections Générales d'Etat d'Afrique et Institutions Assimilées - FIGE

The organisation of the Forum of African State Audit Institutions and Similar Bodies is structured as follows:

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the supreme body of the Organisation. It brings together all representatives of member institutions. It meets every two years.

Attributions
  • Providing strategic direction to the Organisation
  • Determine the composition of the Steering Committee and elect its members
  • Designate the member organisation that will assume the functions of the Executive Secretariat.
  • Review and approve the organisation’s biannual budget
  • Approve the activity reports and the auditors’ report
  • Approve the accounts for the previous financial year
  • Amend the Organisation’s statutes
  • Set the amount of annual membership fees
  • Appointing the Auditors
  • Assign specific tasks to the Steering Committee and the Executive Secretariat
  • Examine the questions submitted by the Steering Committee
  • Establish Technical Committees
  • Decide on the candidacy of the country hosting the next General Assembly
  • Establish your own Internal Regulations

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is the executive body of the Organisation, responsible for ensuring compliance with the statutes and taking the necessary measures to achieve the objectives of FIGE.

Composition (7 members)
  • Chairperson (country of the last General Assembly)
  • Vice-Chairperson (country of the next General Assembly)
  • Executive Secretary (permanent member without voting rights)
  • Representative of Côte d’Ivoire (permanent member without voting rights)
  • Three members from sub-regional geographical groups

Two-year term, renewable

Attributions
  • Ensure compliance with the statutes and achieve the Organisation’s objectives
  • Take the necessary measures between General Meetings
  • Submit the candidate for the position of Executive Secretary to the General Assembly
  • Verify the qualifications of organisations wishing to join FIGE
  • Adopt the annual financial statements and reports
  • Submit a progress report at each ordinary session
  • Propose the creation of Technical Committees

Executive Secretariat

The Executive Secretariat is the administrative body of the Organisation. The functions of the Executive Secretariat are entrusted by the General Assembly to the General State Inspectorate of the member country hosting the headquarters.

Attributions
  • Implement the decisions taken by the Steering Committee
  • Maintain the necessary contacts between members
  • Collaborate in the completion of assigned tasks
  • Ensure the distribution of specialised documents and publications
  • Execute the budget and maintain FIGE’s accounting records.
  • Present the annual report containing the audited accounts
  • Prepare standardisation documents and the research programme
  • Perform all other duties assigned

Headquarters and Current Management

The headquarters of the Forum of African State Inspectorates General and Similar Institutions is located at the Inspectorate General of the Republic of Djibouti.
