
Introduction to the risk-based audit approach (ABR) Yamoussoukro from December 9 to 22, 2013
On December 9, 2013, the region of Yamoussoukro affectionately called YAKRO or Bélier region hosted the first seminar of the State Control Corps in Africa.
Under the chairmanship of the prefect of the region, Mr. André EPONON, the opening of the workshop was held at the Institut National Polytechnique -Houphouët BOIGNY (INP-HB).
The ceremony began at 9:00 am with a speech by the Director General of INP-HB, Mr. André EPONON, who said he was honored to host the ceremony and continued with a speech by the Secretary General of FIGT, Mr. Abdou Karim GUEYE. The latter urged the control profession to have the courage of great works in favor of Africa and the initiative of good governance. He informed the participants of the birth of the FIGE training center and declined its activities. He stressed the fervent common ambition of African states to promote good governance in Africa.
Following his speeches and after his greetings and thanks, the National Secretary of Good Governance Mr. Syndou MEITE congratulated the initiative and expressed his gratitude to the Forum of State General Inspections and Related Institutions (FIGE). He stressed the importance of this initiative at a time when Côte d’Ivoire is emerging from major turmoil, is rebuilding and is in a strong dynamic of promoting the management and accountability of people in economic governance. He praised the exemplary collaboration between FIGE, the General State Inspectorate (IGE) of Côte d’Ivoire and the General Secretariat of Good Governance for holding this capacity building seminar in good governance.
He also stressed that the latter is an open door to strengthening and transforming management practices in frameworks and institutions subject to the principles of ethics and good governance.
The ceremony ended with a speech by the Inspector General of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. NIAMEN NGORAN, who gave the opening address. He first thanked the State authorities for their involvement in the demonstration. He then stressed that the seminar is part of the effective start-up of the FIGE training institute.
The Training Institute for the Verification and Audit profession is located at the National Polytechnic Institute Houphouët BOIGNY. It is an institution for strengthening the technical capacities of the State Inspectors General and the African State Control Bodies in the fields of Verification and Audit.
This institute is an international training center of a local nature that promotes good governance which, according to him, will be done only by “the fear of the gendarme, beginning of wisdom”.
Following these speeches, the work began for a first day in Yamoussoukro, Aries region, land of Houphouët BOIGNY, now land of Good Governance.
